what you should know about now

the way we do know

can’t know about now

even if we could know about now

we can’t say in the now about now

we can say as the now

but can’t know what that means in the now

all of meaning about the now

resides in the eminently recent past

and to understand what is said

is even more remotely removed

from being in the now

as spoken in the now

at best can be as sound, maybe sung

response to that sound has no present in the now

unless one sings along

then now is full of sound

from silent to loudly

words ride the sound

but depend upon articulation

to produce a most recent past

embrace by meaning into understanding

therefore we all become bystanders to the now

held back by our methods as means

yet present beyond comprehension’s account

words are like crime-scene tape

as borders but keeping us in the surround

if we all spoke in tongues

would listen qualify

as ever being in the now?

then conversation seems like inevitable blockage

to ever being conscious in the now.

now has no possibility of separation as its means

time itself is useless as it is only a preoccupancy

but never the essence

so can now be approached

from not being in the now?

it would seem that the technique of approach

only offers denial of that possibility

now does not produce experience

in the way we have fashioned it to be

if now were lightning

then our experience of it

would be the after-burns

or death without warning

by that particular invasion of now

yet all of life is in the now

and the paradox we feature

is the imprisonment of experience

away from that now yet called life

in the living sense

in a word, now is everabsent  . . .
