now is not a pre-existing condition

nor the arrival at an inviting summer camp site.

now is not the usage of a mirror’s reflection

or ever going to ask you a question,

hoping for a response.

now has no arrival behaviors

to be appropriately expected.

now is not the discovery

of how seamless now all is.

now is not a sip of vastness

in a toasting fashion

nor is now a petted moment,

looking back with compassionate eyes.

now is not the seductive body of time,

privately disrobing in your presence,

for it does not address us with features for perusal.

now does not greet us

with the sincerity of a toothless grin

or the features of perfect symmetry

on its ever-attractive face.

now is not sipping from the melting pot

of all you know

nor is it swearing on the bible

of all you truthfully believe.

now is not the perpetual escape

from a timely manner.

it does not initiate or feature,

for now is not an accomplice

or a coconspirator to experience.

now has no there

that is not also here

and therefore, it is not locationally dependent

by any referential means.

now has no ovations

or subsequent rewards,

no itch to be scratched

and nothing observational as status.

seeking now is traveling

with all the wrong wardrobe and gear.

now is never by appointment

and has no stand-up immediacies

and no closing remarks.

if you ever find a now,

it is for then, made of fool’s gold.

if now ever finds you,

there are then,

no secrets to unravel

and no mysteries to unfold . . .
