spectatorship * 1/10/14

For humans as a species,
spectatorship is an indulgent form
of old school entitlement.
Although it appears to be a cornerstone for entertainment,
it represents a passive form
of doing as a means of omission and avoidance.
Bees don’t spectate.
You won’t see ants or bird spectating.
Even herds, flocks, droves or packs
don’t actually spectate in their migratory runs.
But we do.
We reserve the right
to ignore a greater sense of needs planetaraly,
so to speak, to myopically invest
in our culturally endowed spectator sports by observation.
For all the ways and means at our disposal
to care for the planet hands on,
to care for each other directly,
to care for other species and the interactional environment
we are only players in,
we, in the grandest sense of species participation,
baulk at the chance, deny the need, claim overwhelm,
or lack towards the shortsighted benefits from doing at all.
Can you imagine yourself, living on a planet
in which every one gives and receives bodywork
on a weekly basis?
A planet where the notion for humans about free time,
is an opportunity to go out somewhere
and somehow share and contribute to a greater cause
on planet recovery?
We are lulled into believing it is larger than
our daily life can participate in directly.
Unless it is for direct financial gain,
why would we bother(?)
is a top 3 priority,
highly but privately cultivated as self defined.                             We have contrite motives as a whole.
Yes, there are individuals who grandly take up the cause
in spite of what surrounds them.
In general, entertainment is a perversity
that humans agree to as titillation or drama or
restimulations of traumas to pass the time.
Being in character and acting out
are assumptions learned as we are televised.
Service to others, caring for another species,
helping the planet directly in promoted
or avoidance ways seems remote or too vague
to take as a serious influence affecting the whole.
To personalize a world view
and then live into it as a way of life
is a necessity calling.
Every next person you meet
is essentially, part of that worldview in action.
