habits, darkened or otherwise,

Fashion an altar out of your attention,
(know your knowing
as if it were your favorite pet of all time).
Raise up your devotion
out of inward surrender,
(let yearning be your un-deniable levitation).
Embrace ritual out of doing,
(allow your movement to confirm your wholeness).
Give the trust of breath
a role as your benefactor,
(act in acceptance
of your body as mentoring you forward).
Find for yourself the essence behind form,
as a source outside of time,
(and secretly know that energy only poses
as form for the courtesy
of sensing spirit directly).
Just suppose
that pause and practice and notice
have no substance in the light,
(and realize that every shadow recognizes
its master with honorable shyness).
Be comforted that experience is
but the wrap of nonessentials,
(for what you come to hold,
holds you indifferently forever) . . .
