What they had in common

Generalizations, details,

and rationalizations all met

to divulge

what they had in common,

Given that they all speak

the same sort of language!

They agreed that they

all weren’t good listeners.

They all could summarize,

but with different agendas

in mind.

They all showed initiative

for a cause.

They all could come up with

the last word.

They also all could make

adequate references

and deflections

away from themselves.

They all knew

that there was a place

and a time to what they did.

They were all held in some kind

of respectability by others.

They all agreed

that they could work

either side of a cause.

They each had a distinct

but unique relationship

with their personage.

They were all willingly

on call 24/7.

They seemed to excel

in certain environments.

Each had favorite sayings

that they probably used

excessively,

one too sweeping,

one too specific,

and one totally subjective.

(go figure!)

They each knew

they had been implored

for false reasons.

They had the successful roles

for alibis or excuses

or misdirections,

And that they had no conscience

no matter the verbiage involved.

They agreed that laryngitis

or colds or sinus inflections

were the worst!

That when others,

like themselves,

were in the room,

a kind of low-level competition

almost always took place.

They all had been around

during kissing at their work,

so to speak,

but liked an eating environment

much better for what they did.

That without good listeners,

they would all,

sooner or later, go insane.

I appreciated their candidness.

They liked this,

share anecdotes and talk story,

in a third person sort of way.

A passing remark, quote;

“this is kind of different

and oddly kind of fun,

just to get out from under,

if you know what I mean.”

Well, between you and me,

for generalizations, details,

and rationalizations,

it is some of ….

what they had in common.
