this is my only way to begin
to describe how we hold on
to what we do not grasp
we are dysfunction-ally firm
with our perceptual method
we are adequately confirmed
in our denial
we cannot address it
directly as beings
but hurl all of our projection
as our existence at it
to prevail and yet remove it
from its source
we are infatuated
with being self-conscious
and by being self-conscious
we belay our original efforts
with a kind of observational sabotage
that has consensual overtones
as decision-making participants
our self-education should have been
about rules
about the rules
about the rules
that we use to negotiate our interface
with the mass of the world at large
at this “third power” of rules:
we began to inquire
about self as consciousness
we would ask about
who within us is calling out
from within these rules
as guidelines for us to honor
we would then ask
about who we have within us
who makes up those rules
we use to govern that sense of things
as our interactive behavior
with the world at large
only then
would we act in the world
but not as results
reactive in response
instead
we would create to express
enliven to explore
celebrate to commune
through us then
as our medium for living
